Support Groups
Help is where you find itSupport groups come in different forms. Many meet in public places – libraries or hospitals, for example. Others are conducted by phone or meet online. Some are led by professionals and follow a set format; others are less formal. Some were started by individuals; others were formed by organizations or doctors’ offices. The one thing they have in common is that they bring together people who have something in common.

Finding a group near youIf you think you would like to try a support group, you may start by speaking with your doctor or other health professional, but you can also search the Internet for support groups. Another method is to contact a local organization or chapter of a national organization that focuses on your health condition.
