Find a way to let your family know what you need. For some families, simply asking works best. (For example: “Today has been a difficult day. Would you please pick up dinner on your way home this evening ?”)
Some prefer to post to-do lists on the refrigerator. Others have found special codes or rating systems help. For example, one woman drew three faces– one smiling, one frowning and one neutral – on index cards and posts one the bathroom mirror each day depending on how she feels. Her husband can gauge from the faces how much help she might need that day, and when he sees a frowning face, he immediately asks what he can do for her. |
